G'day!
A customer from Japan asked if I could make her a huon pine burl pen, and wanted loud and bright finials. I showed her my blanks and she chose this exact mix. Giving customers this option absolutely blows their mind. They feel like they are part of the process, which is super cool and makes the process personal and fun.
This birdseye huon pine burl was stabilised, which brings out a deep and rich golden caramel note. Sleeved with Japanese ebonite, mottled black and cream ebonite section, finials made from an epoxy resin blank (previously I made a pen from this material which I named 'the surfing peacock') double black spacers, abalone coin in the cap finial, ornamental matching roll stop, Jowo #6 nib and a high gloss ca finish. ~BREATHE~ 😆
She wanted every conceivable 'Pens by Casey' option!!
I'm having a blast!!
Thanks for looking
😉

Beauty !!! . . . that Huon burl is extremely nice !!!!!

But . . . . I think I would have preferred the section to have been a solid colour .... or .... perhaps .... same as the finials . .

Stunning pen! The warm colored wood goes extremely well with the more turquoise resin, and the ebonite is an excellent accent.
