How many different resellers are there for PSI----Penn State Indust.
The question can up about how many different suppliers are out there and I could not even think of all the resellers that carry PSI products. I just figured someone here keeps track of these things--this might come in handy when you are priceing big orders. I know they all do not have the same price or even the same shipping rates--there are "Handling" charges that I watch for also.

It depends on what "stuff" from PSI - Amazon sells some. I know of:
http://www.woodturningz.com
http://www.pocwoodworking.com

There are some others that I've seen as well, but I didn't keep track. Hopefully others will add to the list. Gary, can you copy and paste them all into your original post so we have a consolidated list?

PErhaps not all are actual resellers. Someone here awhile back posted a link where you can buy right from China the same kits as PSI sells. Of course you have to buy in lots of 1000 or 2000, I don't recall. Slimlines were somewhere around $.65 ea and Cigars were around $1.40 ea.

Greg is was surprized that more folks did not jump on that deal---heck I buy several hundred slimline kits a year myself. The only reason I did not mess with it---all the fraud in the world---I would hate to start a one man war against them. If I am correct ---all those kits are coming from China it makes no difference who is selling them here.

I am/was interested in that deal, but waiting on the samples/details to be evaluated and as no one knows what plating is used or kit quality. Not sure if the thread is on IAP or TPS.

If I read the tread it was here----I would not need samples---------heck if you have seen one slimline you have seen them all. I bet there are only one or two places that make all of them anyway. My concern was would you even get the you ordered ?????
Back to where this started----I would of thought that there where more than just two PSI resellers.

That would make one heck of a group buy!!! I am tossing around the idea on contacting them to see if I can get raw, unplated kits.[:D]

I got a email last week from a New member about having a real bad time placeing a order with a reseller and he asked me what should he do. My responce was simple----Tell them to jump in a lake. There are to many folks who work hard to offer outstanding customer service to put up with something like that.

http://www.longislandwoodworkingsupply.com is another PSI supplier. I've purchased some BB chisels and dead centers (steb knock-offs) from them. Lousy website, excellent service, great prices.

Ernie at Woodturningz is a PSI reseller and will sell everything in the PSI catalog at cheaper prices than PSI. He's fast, friendly and he don't kill you with shipping and handling. My only complaint is that you need to call him for whatever is not on his web site and I do not believe he is there at night.

There was a guy who just posted here the other day and s got good marks from some members. Web site was WoodenWhimsies or something similar. I didn't pay much attention as I mostly avoid PSI.

That's assuming that you get any service at all. After making a post about trouble I had with them, I had probably 20 private messages from folks who had had trouble with the company. And if you do have a problem, they don't respond to emails and they do not have a published 800 number so you have to solve their problems on your long distance minutes.

But the secret is out......this number will usually be answered by the owner of the company: 1-800-653-1930.

There are so many PSI resellers out there with good to outstanding reputations, I just can't see any reason to run the risk of a bad experience with these guys.[:(!]

One of the things I wanted to see was---does anyone buy from PSI or are we just useing the resellers????
Randy there are some things I buy are only sold by PSI----like the 10 inch brass tubes---thier price on pencil lead is also very good. Those are the two that just come to mind.

Hi,

Randy, here is the site you where talking aobut

http://www.woodnwhimsies.com/

Hard to beat price and good service. They have the same kits that PSI sells but get them directly from that China factory "Rizheng".
I get all my slims and confort pens from them. As mostly everyone, i avoid all the 24k plating. And like Garry MAx said "when you saw a slimline you saw them all"[:D]

For the group buy, i know that Wood-of-one-kind is actually talking with them about possibilty on making business with them.

Alfred

Alfred ---I went and looked at thier stuff and prices. You are right----that is better than what I was paying. Next order I will give them a try.

I will have 'samples' that were couriered with DHL by the end of next week. Hoping to share some good business news and samples with IAP members.

Tony,
I've never bought from from Steebar, but I buy most of my cabochans from Augums.. I don't buy any pen kits from them as they are more expensive than direct from PSI. Only reseller I've ever used is Woodturningz.. and I think he actually has a wider variety of platings than PSI.. I think CSUSA kits are a better quality though.
