I was experimenting with casting this weekend, so being the patriot I am, I tried to make a red, white and blue blank. The red and blue worked wonderfully, but the white just sort of disappeared. I'm using Casting Craft PR and colors.
Any suggestions how to get a dense, bright white?

Your white might not have been tinted enough. I use PR dyes from USComposites. Pr sets slowly, not like alumilite where you see nice color seperation. How early you pour the three PR colors will also make a difference. If the pr hasn't set up enough before you pour, you will get new color blends from those touching each other. White is always hard, or at least for me. I tried orange and white and got some new yellow in the blank with them. I poured too early.

I use the Us Composites white but I am out right now so I use castin craft white. If you are doing mica red white and blue you could try a white pearl for the white. Like John said, you need to get it where they are thick enough to not create new colors when poured together in the mold.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try it out tonight if I get home in time. Now that I have my NEW AIR CONDITIONER in my shop, I can work in any weather and without the bugs. Yep - I'm braggin'.

I use the pearl white mica and add castin craft white dye to it. It gets really bright white and still has the mica look to it.

I use white powder coating paint. You can pick it up at harbor freight real cheap and it makes for a good white solid color and will not just disappear when you swirl in another color.
