Just wondering what some of you are using to color your Ultraseal. I have been dying my blanks it Transtint/DNA then stabilizing. Problem is that the blanks tend to bleed into the clear Ultraseal even after drying for over a week. I would like to bypass the Transtint/DNA step and be able to just dye and stabilize at the same time.

Can I dye the Ultraseal with the transtint? Also, has anyone used the powdered analine dyes with Ultraseal? There seem to be more colors of the powder available.

I've used the Transtint in the Ultraseal, but you can't use too much.
I 'd think the powders would work better, as there's no liquid to
mess up the mix. Getting it well mixed and keeping it suspended in
solution would be my main concern

I hav not used any of the powders before. From reading about them, it seems like they are suppose to disolve, not suspend. I am not sure about that though. I tried dying a couple of blanks initally with some DNA colored with Alumilite colorants. Didn't work very well. Maybe the particles in the colorant were too big to be drawn through the wood fibers.

Jeremy,

Hopefully you get a good answer to this because I am wondering the same thing. I was tempted to use vacuum and dyed alcohol but that doesn't sound much like it worked......
