OK, I should be committed for doing this but here goes. I'll host the first Houston IAP chapter meeting at my house in Pearland on Saturday, Dec 13 from 2-6PM.
I'm thinking organizational/Christmas party/whatever. If those coming would like, we'll even do a light burger party and have everyone bring a covered dish.
Post below if you can come (so we can let Ken know how many kits to send) and if you would be willing to do a demo of some sort.

Mannie, I've been making that 5 hour drive once a month now for a year. I'll take care of my Dec. trip and the meet at the same time. I'll just stay in town for the weekend. I've got the date set in my phone.
 
Monty, I'll be there. Just let me know what I can bring in order to help with the light burger party. Do you need some burger meat, buns, condiments or whatever? just let me know. Also, do you want to have a blank swap or blank trade at the same time? That might prove to be interesting. Just let me know what you need and how I can help. :biggrin: :highfive:
 
I too was thinking about a blank swap. We'll get the details on that and the menu worked out when we see who all is planning on attending. Once we get 5 people committed, Lou will set use up with a subforum.

Let me check my daughter's gymnastics schedule - there is a meet that day, trying to pin down if it is in the morning or afternoon.

I'll be there. I have a whole freezer full of deer meat that could be used for 'burgers', as well as some sausage....let me know. I'll be calling you to set up a meet fer some glue in the near future.

I just created a Greater Houston Chapter under Group Memberships. If you are planning on attending the first meeting on Dec 13, please join this group. It will make it easier to send the details outs to everyone.
 
So far besides my self, this is the list of those that indicated they would attend the Dec 13 meeting. If you spouse, girlfriend, or SO, (please only one of the aforementioned) is coming with you let me know.

Planning on about a 3 hour meeting/discussion time and then eating.

Would also like to do a blank swap, so bring 2 or 3 blanks, preferably individually wrapped as presents so no one will know what it is.

I am open to any and all suggestions.

OK guys. just under two weeks till the meeting. If there is no number after your name (above) than I have not received confirmation from you if you will be attending or not. Please let me know ASAP (by Wednesday) so I can contact Ken about the kits.
As for demos, I have my new Pen Wizard, but have not had time to try it out.
I also have a Jet slow speed wet grinder, but not many jigs, so if anyone has jigs and would like to give a demo, that would be great.
Another idea would be for someone to give a casting demo. I have a HF pressure pot, but it has a slow leak. I'll try to find it and stop it before the meeting.
I also have powder coating gun and could demo that if you would like.

Foodwise, I plan on grilling burgers and deer meat and sausage (courtesy of Vern) Saturday morning and Lance is bringing boudin. My MIL is making several pies and coffee and tea will be available. Several of you have offered to bring things such as buns and chips etc. Please post here what you will bring.

Mannie, I'd sure like to come but my driving has gotten bad enough that I don't do any freeway driving any more....only very local stuff like groceries and doctor appts. If there was someone coming from north of me that I could ride with then I could be there. I'm gonna watch this thread and see who all is coming and maybe I'll spot someone who I can ride with. Count me as a "wanta-come". George

I will be there and I'll bring the wife with me. I need to see what we can round up for potluck. Looks like the meat is taken care of. Also looks like the deserts are accounted for so we'll bring potato salad and drinks of various kinds.

I you don't find someone who is closer to you to give you a ride, let me know and I will try to come get you. I'm in the Jersey Village area. If anyone is in the Spring or north side of town, let's see if we can get George to the shindig.

I believe Rob, great12b4ever, is up around your area. He indicated earlier that he was coming but so far has not confirmed.
 
As you can read, Dion has offered to pick me up and so I will be coming. Kathy has enough of my pen making during the week so she will find some other way to occupy her Sat. She did say she would make me a pecan pie to bring if that is acceptable.

How many swappin' blanks should we bring? And how about everyone bringing a "show-off pen". Then I can steal some new ideas.

I am real glad to be coming. It's good to put faces with names you've been in touch with and I look forward to meeting some of the guys off the forum. Will you be giving out samples of glue or are we gonna have to buy what we need? I think the samples idea sound real good!!!!!

It's confirmed, I'm not going to be able to make this first meeting, something about a silly birthday party for one of the spawn being on the same day or something. I don't think it would be worth the fight it would cause :)

Could still use burger buns, paper plates plastic cups, knives and forks.
Everyone should bring two penblanks, wrapped and unlabled for surprise exchange. You can also bring others to swap. Also bring pens to show off your work (and so Oldwranger can steal your ideas :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:)

My wife asks that your wife/SO bring a wrapped Christmas ornament under $10 for an ornament exchange between them.

Vern will bring jigs and do a demo on sharpening.

I'll have my PW set up.

I'm gonna try to get my pressure pot leak stopped, but I don't have any resin, so if anyone has some and would like to do a casting demo, that would be gre3at.

Any other suggestions for demos?

Last but not least, please send me your email address so I can send you a map to my house.

edit in: Forgot to mention we have 6 cats and 4 dogs in case anyone has allergies.

I said I'd bring the jigs. Said nothing about doing a demo. Last I checked, you had to be smarter than the machine in order to do demonstrations!

I will bring the plates, & forks, etc in addition to the name tags. If everyone will email names to me I can have the name tags done, or we can complete them when we arrive.
