In the planning stages for the next Houston Bubbasville. Looks like it will be the latter part of March. Time and place TBD in the next week or so.

By the way ... wouldn't it be a nice gesture if the Bubbasville Houston crowd spent the day turning pens to send as "Goodwill Gifts" to the Bubbasville Atlanta people? Just a thought. [;)]

I'll do my best to be there Monty!

I'd also like to propose a contest between Houston Bubbasville & Atlanta Bubbasville: "Clash of the Collaboration Pens" I'm thinking that each group makes one or more pens, each pen must be a collaboration of at least 3 members and must be completely made and finished in a one day meeting (starting from plain blanks). Winners to be determined by IAP poll and the stakes are MAJOR bragging rights (or refreshing beverages to be negotiated at a later time). Rules to be enforced by the honor system and any complaints would be publicly ridiculed.

Any other stakes or rules?

Dave

For that collaboration effort from Houston, we would probably need more than just one silly ol' 'tupid blank.
Probably need at least 1 blank + 1 bd-ft of solid material + 1 lot of misc. assorted plastic & metalic parts + 1 pen kit + 1 mess of Houstonian luck, brains, brawn, and talent.[^]

The materials would have to be certified as orginating from Earth (no moonrock pens guys...) [:D] and produced within the last 1.2 million years.[8D] )

Any other requirements?

...and Dan's CNC machine[:D]
Do a good turn daily!

Sure, why not. I didn't mean to imply only ONE blank could be used. I was just thinking that segmented blanks shouldn't be prepared ahead of time. And if we want to use a whole bd-ft, we could make a monster sized pen. After all, EVERYTHING is big in Texas.

This was my first thought.....especially since I was just talking to him about hosting the meeting this time.

Count me in! Well, as long as I make it back from the Shuttle launch (speaking of moon rocks and all...) - and don't forget the woodworking show the last weekend (March 30 - April 1). Wouldn't want to make anyone have to choose! [:D]

I'll have to keep an eye on this and hope it is held on one of my weekends off. I haven't turned anything in several months and need to get off my rear and do some more.

Finally have a date set for the Houston Bubbasville April 28.
Dan Symonds has graciously agreed to host it for us, and LOHL will prepare a lunch.
Time 9AM till???
The agenda will be a demo of the CNC programming , cutting process and support tooling.
If anyone else would like to add something else please feel free.
Dan does not have any wood turning equipment so if anyone wants to demo anything else, they will have to bring a wood lathe to use.

If you are planning on attending, email me and I'll get you his address and phone number. He lives in Jersey Village which is the 290 & Beltway 8 area.
My response to you may be slow as my phone line is stillout.

Sounds great! This will be my first Bubbasville.[:D] I'm looking forward to meeting some fellow IAP members. I will email Monty, per his posting. The agenda is super. I've always wanted to learn more about CNC.[:D][:D][:D]

Two more weeks till the Houston Bubbasville, Sat April 28. Just bumping this back up

I still don't know yet, about that weekend. Trying to get out of a trip to Uvalde that day.
BUT, my Bubba shirt is clean and ready.
We going to do any penmaking, or just empting cans and swamping lies?
