From myself, of course.

Some of you know I drive an old VW Bus every day. However, the lack of heat has really been getting to me as I get older. And this has been a pretty cold winter here in CO.

I'm going to look at an 86 Saab 900s today. I had an 84 many years ago and loved it. From the description it sounds like this one is in good shape.

This will give me a second funky car to drive, allowing one car to be down for maintenance or restoration while the other is being driven.

Good luck on getting it. It's dependable car if in good condition. Not a bad driver either.

And the heat is a big plus.

I used to drive a 87 Toyota Van/Wagon thing.

We called it "Scooby" because it looked similar to the Mystery Machine! UGLY UGLY UGLY,, Red and white striped. It had a factory conversion, which added 3 whole inches of height, and some funky custom windows that were IMPOSSIBLE to find glass for. I had to replace two of em, and eventually just cut my own Plexi and called it done.

I paid $500 cash for the van. I put brakes on it once, fuel pump once, and had to rebuild a throttle bracket. Otherwise, it was YEARS of dependability! My kids hated it... I Loved it!

I just got back from looking at it. The tires have fair tread, but even my bus was having trouble navigating some of the side streets around here, so I didn't test drive the Saab.

Mixture is all jacked up. Tons of carbon coming out of the exhaust. BUT... Fired right up dead cold. Nice. Body is in great shape, interior seats are good, dash is a bit chewed up.

But the bonus? It's NOT a 4 door like my 84 was. It's a 3 door. With the original Saab louvers on the back hatch. Sweet. I would have been happy with a 4 door. I'm stoked it's a 3!

I'm pretty sure I'll take it once I have a chance to put the suspension and transmission through a real test drive.
