About a year ago, I was hanging out with a buddy of mine in his garage when he showed me a disc/belt sander. I didn't think much of it at the time and pretty much blew it off. With my new fascination for segmenting, I was thinking about it the other day. Next time i saw him, I asked him what he was doing with it. "Collecting dust" was his reply. I asked if he had plans for it, and of course he has no interest in putting it to work, SOOOOOO. I have a box full of cedar from a tree in his yard. The tree had alot of sentimental value, so i am supposed to turn it into something cool, and in trade, i get the sander! WHAT A DEAL FOR ME! I was gonna do the stuff from the tree just to be a friend. pics to come, once i get the sander!

Before you buy this for segmenting...check the disc for wobbly/runout..segmenting is a very precise process..if you cut your pieces on a good mitre box or table saw, and the cuts are at the precise angle you need, and then you take it to a disc sander that has a poor disc, you have just ruined your pieces...remember that a 12 seg ring has 24 cuts..if you are off a tenth of a degree on each piece you are that x24 when you try to get that ring together...I have made 800 piece seg vases and used sandpaper on a board to sand the pieces ..don't ruin your own work just to have a jazzy new tool...Just my opinion
