I like to leave the 1" 3T resaw blade in my big saw, and that's not too good for nipping a little off a pen blank. So I bought the Rikon 10" benchtop bandsaw.

What a nice little unit for $150. All metal, hinged doors, roller guides, dust port, 1/3 HP. I made a couple quick cuts with the junk blade it came with and it's got plenty of oomph for small work.

I got it at Hechinger, drop shipped by Rikon.

I'm going to mount it on a larger plywood base and set it on the extension table of my tablesaw. I'll post some other pics and my impressions of the saw soon. For the moment, I'm impressed! I have to be sure not to lick it, though, as it's made in China and that's lead paint for sure.

Unless you have been in the habit of licking your, China made, Grizzly and Jet, I don't think you will have a lead ingestion problem. [;)]
Looks like a very useful addition to your shop. I agree, changing band saw blades is a real nusiance, time consuming project.

Please
cute saw Jeff---is it belt drive or direct??

[}:)] It's so clean because it probably gets little use. [;)]

That saw is also sold at Woodcraft and I believe Sears has it re badged to the Craftsman name.

Jeff, nice deal and you'll have to post how you like it after a while.

I just returned from picking up a used Grizz 20" band saw and am currently in the process of restoring a 1955 Delta cast iron base BS. I am getting a 1" carbid resaw blade for the Grizz 20" and going to outfit the 14" Delta with a smaller 1/4" blade. It will be nice working big stuff on the larger, lower table and saving the higher table for the small stuff.[8D][8D][8D]

I have the same little Rikon and it works great after I got a decent blade for it, but this past week I bought a Craftsman that is the same size and was on sale for $99. The only difference between the two is that the craftsman can resaw at 4 5/8" which is over an inch more than the Rikon. The strange part is that when I put them side by side, I had to think that they are made by the same company. Almost everything is the same down to the way the shafts are mounted. The Craftsman did come with a fence that works and a blade that is sharp and cutting well. Does the same company make both saws?

<br />Looking again at that picture, I have to wonder...Jeff, does that little bitsy, teeny, tiny shop vacuum setting there operate your d/c system for the big Grizz? [:p]
No, but that little vacuum is really handy.

My DC1200C way too noisy to have it inside the shop.

It's on the other side of a cinder block wall. Wireless remote.

Jeff here's a pic of Margie's bandsaw---saw was built in the mid 1940's---wheels are 7 inch. Sorry about the mess but it's show season this little saw runs several hours everyday.
