Just picked up four pieces of "chestnut brown" Bakelite, each measuring 24"X8"X1" off of Ebay. Needless to say I'm anxious to see what it looks like when turned. I'll let you know when it arrives.

Make sure you do the bakelite test on it before turning. I know someone who bought some off ebay with a cert of auth. and it wasn't bakelite.

So if my math is right, you'll easily have enough for 128 5" blanks 7/8" X 1", as well as 32 Shorter blanks (roughly 3 1/2" long)..... if you're taking names for a list of possible interested folks to resell some of this to, please add me to it (or better yet, start it with my name at the top!!):)

It won't be quite that many as there are three 1/2" X 2 1/2" slot in each piece. I probably will sell some if it does turn out to be genuine Bakelite and the color is good. I'll let everyone know. These came out of what the seller said were " old electrical gutter box cavities".

Sounds like a great deal.I would also be interested in gettng a few blanks.
Would you mind telling me how to test to make sure it is bakelite? i have never heard how to test for that.
Thanks!
JIM
