Just finished a hand soap pen tonight after being told I couldn't do it. Is there anything unusual that you all have used before?

This was from a bar of soap a friend made. I was hoping that I could sand with some 2000 grit, but that didn't work out. Everything has to be finished smooth with cutting tools. I finished it off with several layers of CA and brushed the ends with thin CA after I took it off the lathe. I didn't bother polishing it too much because of the material scratches, but if I do one again I am pretty sure I can make it nearly perfect.

Don`t think I`ve ever seen soap used for a pen before . Looks very good , but don`t leave it in the pocket of your dirty shirt , unless you want to see the clean brass tube again .

Great timing. Our pen group just announced a challenge for May to make a pen out of a material you never used before, something to think about. What did you use for gluing in the tube?

I used a more than usual amount of medium thickness CA, just to get a solid base. The soap connected to the glue will probably fail first, but it held for the turning and it holds for twisting.
