Recently there was thread started based on an AP report of a gigantic hog that was killed by an 11 year old kid during a hunt in Alabama. I looked for the original thread; but could not find it.

Anyway, it turns out that the pig was a domestic. farm-raised pig named "FRED" who had been sold to the hunt operator just four days before the hunt actually took place.

Apparently, it has not yet been determined if there was some deceit perpetrated by the hunters or whether they were the victims of a dishonest hunt operator.

This whole story sounded funny to me when I first heard about it and it wouldn't surprise me if there are still parts of it that remain to be divulged. Sure am scratching my head over the "fact" that the "kid" was using a 50 caliber handgun.......maybe he is training for the "DIRTY HARRY" sequel??

That is a TON of gun even for a man to shoot. You thought a 44 mag was big?

BTW:It is the largest handgun round that has mass produced guns chambered for it.

I have serious doubts an 11 year old shot the 500 S&W. Not saying it can't happen, but I'm very skeptical about it. However I'd like to pull the trigger on one [:D]

I haven't shot the 500 S&W yet but I can tell you the 44mag has quite a kick! I have to put it down after about 10-12 rounds for the pounding on my wrist! Plus if that would have been a real feral hog, the thought of that charging would be real SCARY![:0] Kirk[8D]
