I am thinking of making some "hidden bottle stoppers". I measured the neck size of some of the bottles I have here.

I think the correct hole size is 1 - 3/8"?

If you have made the hidden style of bottle stopper, what hole size do you drill in the bottom of the stopper to fit over the neck of the bottle?

Thanks for any tips.

Making a few of these have been on list of 'things to do' for a while now. I was wondering the same thing.

Thanks for throwing this question out there.

I had to grab one right quick and do a sorta measurement.. don't have calipers in the house to get exact, but looks like a 1 3/8" is correct...

They're really simple to make, lots of fun, lots of design possibilities and I find they are well received at my shows....

attaching a couple of photos to show some I did..

Now that Chuck has posted the secret number I no longer have an excuse for not trying one of those.

Edit: On second thought, Chuck didn't say how deep to drill it so I guess I still have an excuse.

Thanks for the confirmation Chuck. I am looking for a jamb chuck and it appears they come in 1-1/4" and 1-1/2". :frown:

I think I can use a 3/8" bolt and a 1-3/8" diameter filler plug as a chuck though.
