Hi, im completely new to turning pens .... i've done a few Chisel handles for my vintage tools and turned a couple of really basic pens (tubes with Bic inserts inserted in ) One a offcut of Purple heart and a Spalted oak, a short stubby one for my wife to try out and comment on lol.

Looking forward to reading all the helpful info on here.

Abit about me.

51 years old...... (25 in my head) i love working with my hands and have over the last few years been collecting vintage Wm Marples tools, Refurbishing them to be used in my Workshop ( Workshop sounds better then tiny shed). I recently picked up a old lathe which is good enough for me to try things out on. I just need to buy a couple of other bits to be able to properly turn pens.

Welcome from Greece. I am really jealous of the maples tools and how easily you can find them in uk. I am looking at ebay.uk for a bargain but postage/duties have skyrocketed.
Anyway welcome aboard.cheers, Mike

What sort of things are you looking for? Perfect tools or ones that you can refurbish? As i pick up 90% of my chisels at car boot sales.

I am looking for any tool that is worth its time restoring i.e.not overused or pitted from from rust.etc. i like restoring tools more than buying new ones but within reason.
