Hi, my name is George and i have been a woodturner and a pen maker for 2 years now...
Its my hobby but also it provides funds for upgrading my workshop....
I work only with wood blanks and i specialize in Olivewood and olivewood burls.
I collect my own wood and i dry it naturaly....
And for finish i always use CA.
Thanks for accepting me in IAP and i hope i ll make a lot of friends here.
If anyone wants pen blanks from olivewood and olivewood burl
i will be glad to help...

Hello George and welcome from Monroe Michigan. The folks here are very generous with their experience and honest with criticisms (if you ask for it). Please give what you can, and take what you learn and use it to push yourself. The skills and creativity of this group are amazing and an inspiration (as I am sure you have noticed). It sounds like you have an abundant supply of beautiful turning woods available, you are comfortable with a CA finish, and with two years turning under your belt. I look forward to your work.

Welcome from Akron, Ohio
I just received some olive wood and am looking forward to turning it.
Please show some pics of your work

Welcome George, from another George in South Australia.

Greek Olive wood is very identical to what was planted in the old days in Australia by Settlers from many European countries, being Greece one of the largest representation of migrants in all over Australia, I had some great Greek friends, when I lived in Northern Territory, years ago...!

I also do a lot of work with Olive wood, one of my preferred since a little boy, in my country of birth, Portugal...!

We all like to see lots of pics and we have a saying that goes like this, "No pics, never happened..!":wink::biggrin:

Once again welcome, and consider making some of your Olive burl blanks available in here, everyone loves them, sales of them here, are rare and far in between...!

Best of luck,

Cheers
George

Hi all and thanks for the warm welcome... Olive wood is nice wood and yes here in Greece we use it a lot... for firewood
I am on a neverending quest for burls and i have pen blanks that i sell on Facebook
here is the link... https://www.facebook.com/OliveWoodBurls?ref=hl
I keep their price very low just because i want for people to take this pretty wood and make nice pens out of it.
What little money i earn i just take supplies for my bandsaw and lathe.
I am not a super pen turner but i have managed to sell a few.
here are some pics of the last two i made for myself... The light one is Olivewood burl and the second is the same but with different colour
