This one is for the hardcore pen turners out there. First get out your old (Craft Supplies USA) Woodturners Catalog 2007 spring/summer issue. Now turn to page 112, see the Jr. Gentlemen's Pen & Pencil in the bottom right corner. The top pencil the blue and brown one, does anybody know where I can get my hands on a blank like that? I called the folks at Craft Supplies USA they didn’t know where it came from. [?]

Don't know where to get this blank. It does not look like an acrylic or any other plastic, not shiny at all. I believe someone filled holes in the wood with some kind of blue material.

I am with rudy, If I wanted to make a blank like this I would start with E-bay, I can't recall the sellers name, "something" family woods. (Help out with that one folks I know some of you know who I am talking about)
look for his challenge blanks. basically they are work eaten pen blanks with large voids in them. then either fil the voids with blue acrylic or powdered stone. Bill B. sells the chrushed stone or at least used to. I have a pen I made with Juniper and crushed Opal.

I've seen some dyed burls that have a similar look. Why not send a copy of this picture to BB at Arizona Sihlouette and see if he has something close to that?

Daniel,
I think you are referring to 'mcfamilywoods'. The man's name is Clint and it seems that he has not had an auction since June.
