Don't know about where you are, Roy, but here most hospitals don't allow use of any electronics--even cell phones. The claim is that they sometimes interfere with the facility's sensitive electronic equipment! Might want to check that out.

We'er in the waiting room and they said its fine, guess they don't see a problem as they have computers all over the place

I had my right hip replaced 3 yrs ago and now I need the left one replaced, not very eager about it though, even with the new technology. You guys are in our prayers.

Hope all goes well. Keep us posted. The last time I was in Boston, I got a cab ride to the airport with wireless in the back seat. What's better than IAP when you're stuck in traffic?

Roy,
Keep us updated on how she does... I wish her a speedy and safe recovery.

I'm looking towards my wife having hers in January... she's been a lot of pain for the past two or three years... she just saw her cardiologist today to get his okay, she's on medication for atril fibilation (spelling of medical terms sucks) to get his release. We go to "joint school" on Dec 3 to get details on what ever goes down.. then meet with the orthopedist again in mid-Dec.

She's a trooper and keeps on trucking, but I know she's hurting. The doctor did an xray at her first visit and said he's surprised she can walk at all. She just got old enough to go onto medicare and we bought a supplement policy so she can get it fixed.

I'll watch Mrs. progress with interest. Give her all of our best wishes.

Hey Roy.

Hope things went super. We'll pray for your wife's speedy recovery. Now convience her to stop kicking your butt so she doesn't have any more hip problems.

Chuck, she went through the surgery with-out a hitch and is in a little pain tonight. The Doctor said tomorrow the pain will be worse as the pain block wears off but should ease up by Friday. He said she should feel like a new person with-in a couple of weeks as her hip ball was rubbing on the socket so bad that the ball was polished. I think I feel worse than she does :frown: glad its over except for the rehab.
Thanks all for the best wishes & prayers....

Glad she's out and all went well. I know several folks who have had this done and every one of them is glad they did it (though they may have said differently on some rehab days) It will be worth it in the end.

Sounds like a really good prognosis. How long will she be in rehab... how long will she have to be there in the hospital... will they send her home from the hospital or will she have to go to a care facility for a while.... all these are questions from Dianne... she's being told that she'll likely be in the hospital for 3 or 4 days, then to a care facility for a few days, then rehab for a period of time.

When my step father had his first hip done at 87, he was in the hospital a few days, then sent home.. I don't think he even did any rehab. He sat around for a three or four weeks, but got to fretting about his cows.. he was a rancher that ran 250 head of cows on 400 acres.. so my mother who had osteporsis (again with the spelling) so bad she could hardly walk, drove him in his truck to see about his cows and wound up sticking the truck in a hole on the backside of the pasture... Arthur got out of the truck and walked back to the house, climbed up on his big John Deere and drove back to the truck and pulled it out so mom could get back to the house. He never stopped again. His other hip was replaced at 95 just before he died. He had his operation the same day as his 67 year old son and was up and ready to go home before Kenneth was.
