Help with Wood ID

I'm usually pretty good with identifying woods, but this one's got me stumped. I think it is a local wood, it came from my mom's firewood pile. I thought cherry at first, but the bark is totally different from any other cherry I've seen at this size limb (approx 4" diameter). There's no distinct smell to it when cutting either. Any ideas?

dunno, I would think cherry too. Just chuck it up, turn it down, and glue a BIC into the end. All done, NEXT!! lol

Can't help with this one, but then I have a lot of trouble figuring out my own wood. Check with Rarestwood. He really knows his stuff.

The bark looking from the end grain looks like cottonwood
