This is a pen my wife bought me over 10 years ago before I got back into woodworking and such. Always have been a pen nut.

Anyway, the plastic cap that captures the nib when the pen is closed has worn out and the threaded end appears to be stripped. The part slips too far into the cap and the top will not stay on the pen. Any ideas on where I might get a replacement part. Pen is of sentimental value.

Thanks in advance
HotJoe (Mike)

Mike, can you make a replacement insert for the threaded part? E.g., I know some people suggest using a toothpick in wood when the hole is too big for a screw to bite into any more. I wonder, if you put some epoxy or other filler material in the hole, if you couldn't re-drill and screw it into place.

Hopefully, JTate will see this. If not, look for her in the member's listing and pm her for advice. She's the real deal when it comes to restoration.

Joe, that looks just like the snap cap keepers used by CSUSA and PSI. I'd contact customer support at CSUSA and tell them you'd like to buy one.

I know they have extras b/c I've had to have one replaced.

Mike if you send me a PM with your address I will send you a few. I have quite a few spare from Craft Supplies UK. Will take a few days from England but I am happy to stand the postage.

There is a knack to inserting them with a crosshead screwdriver to screw them on the thread. You can screw them in more or less and it will affect how the cap fits. It's a bit of trial and error.

These are the same things that are supplied all small to medium size CSUSA fountain pen kits that protect the nibs during shipment. They come with Jr Gents and others.
