VS model or the std. model??The switch on the std model has a rep for failing; but are repairable in many cases. Disassemble the switch and clean it out. They frequently get gummed up with sawdust.

If that doesn't work, JET has a two year warranty and will send you a new one for free......maybe even if the warranty is out. www.jettools.com

A 1/2 HP motor will probably draw about 4 amps. Any replacement switch will almost cetainly be rated for 15 amps unless you decide to use one of those miniature electronic dudes from Radio Shack. There was a recent post here that someone found a replacement switch at Home Depot.(electrical dept.) I don't recall ever seeing them at my store; but it wouldn't hurt to check if you have one closeby.

Check out this IAP thread on the subject:

Personally, I like the suggestion offered by Bob:

I am getting RID of that POS switch!!!
I bought a 4S box, a light switch, and a plug set. I will wire the plugs split, one will work on the switch and one will be hot as long as power is supplied to unit. I will mount the box inside my lathe stand/cabinet. No more POS JET switch!!!

These might work, too.

My jet switch died twice, once I had jet send me one, the second time I just went to Grainger and got three spares, at $5 each it was too cheap to worry about.
