My friend is selling her Poolewood Euro 3000 lathe and found a prospective buyer. Now she is looking for a shipper because the shipping cost could be the deal breaker. She was quoted shipping for $2,500.00!!! [:0]

Below is the lathe (package) details.

Origin zip code: 78121 (San Antonio, TX)
Destination zip code: 02116 (Boston, MA)
Lathe weight (w/o pallet): approximately 1078 lbs.
Approx lathe dimension: 90" long x 48" high x 32" wide.

The shipping company preferably would crate and pickup the lathe and drop off at a residence. It need to be insured too.

Any help/lead finding a cheaper reliable shipper will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Good thing I can find old stuff in my email fast.

Thanks guys. I gave here the link.

I am excited that both of you provided the same link...that means their rates must be really competitive.

You might look for a local guy who has a truck and handling equipment. Or a guy with a pick-up and trailer and make arrangements the other end for handling. I'll bet you can find a local guy who will do it for half what you have been quoted. Downside. Insurance. The person hauling is responsible and if not properly insured, you all have problems.
