Hi David. There is a thread "Casting carbon with decal question" that I and a few others were trying to help Mike with. It sounds like you have the same problem he has but hard to tell without haveing more details. What type of resin, molds and so on. I've been playing with casting for several years and have probably just as much success as failures. As of last Friday I think I finally found a system that works well for me. I use PR Resin with a toaster oven and a cheap jewelry cleaner. If you think I can help give me more details and I will be glad to give you my process.

David, can you take pictures of the blanks, preferably up close and in focus? I use pressure, but have had success without it as well. So one of my questions for you also is:
-- Are you coating the labels with CA before casting? If so, how long do you let them outgas?

--Are you using repositionable labels or just the standard shipping labels that are the 2" x 4"?

--Are you powdercoating or spray painting your tubes before the label application?

thanks guys
i am using poly resin from hobby loby
using the resin molds
didnt coat the label
and didnt paint the tubes before hand
resin is not heated
i am using standard 2 x 4 shipping labels
i will try to get some pic when i get home
thanks

I have run into this problem with another person and the problem was the resin was old. How is its setting time? Do you have a long set up time before it hardens? (Pot life)

Labels

Hi David
I have had pretty good luck with stamps and mailing labels.
I put on the lable, then coat it with mod podge, then put ca over that then cast with pr.

So far seems to work the best foe me.

Also do the same with water slide decals.
Jim
