I had to give up golf after my shoulder got too bad to bring the club back and took up making pens. This site has been very helpful. So far I think I have tried every type of finish: friction polish, CA, lacquer- spray and dip. I give most of what I turn out to two of my sons who in turn give them to their customers. So far I'm not sure whether this "hobby" costs me more or less than golf did. I know the air you breathe in golf is much healthier.

I will be turning 84 in a couple of weeks. I hope by the time I am 85 I am making decent looking pens consistently. I also hope that my sons can find enough customers to give them to.

I am still working on figuring out the acronyms that are used throughout this site. I am also a little leery about even writing this piece of self indulging prose.

Welcome from down the road just a little further than jsolie :)

I'm just getting started (made 3 pens so far) and the only thing I know for sure is that there is a lot to learn and most of it can be found on this site!!
 
Welcome Tom. There is a list of acronyms in the Library, that is at the top of the home page. If you can't find it let me know and I'll look up the exact steps.
