I've turned a couple of pens at my friend's shop and decided I wanted to turn pens more often. So I have the Rockler mini-lathe and am just setting up my home shop.

That Rockler mini-lathe is a good starter lathe. I bought one of those 3 years ago when I started turning & it has served me quite well. Several of us have that lathe or its Harbor Freight equivalent, so don't hesitate to ask if you ever have any questions about it.
