Noob member here. New to the forum and the hobby. I picked up woodturning as a Covid hobby and am searching for ideas/help on where i go wrong. Like barrel trimming for pens. Look forward to learning from you all.

Back at you from PA!
If you search my IAP posts, you'll learn lots of new ways to go wrong. 🤪 But there is always some kind people here to steer me back in the right direction. I've learned a lot from these folks in my first year of turning.

Greetings from Nebraska and welcome to the IAP community. It has been a long time since I have been in the area but I always enjoyed the opportunity to visit your part of Pennsylvania. The corporate HQ for the company I retired from is on Hwy 30 in Malvern. I really enjoyed going out for lunch and dinner as our founder and CEO's favorite place was the General Warren Inn - not too far from the plant. - Dave

Howdy from Georgia: Glad to help with any questions you might have. I have been turning pens for 12 years and still make mistakes and need help with new techniques so just put your questions out there someone will answer them.

Back at ya plus from Pa. Keep doing and asking. Describe what you did and it gets corrected from there. There are no mistakes. Consider practicing on cheap dowels or scrap wood. I bought a 36" x 1" dowel from Home Depot.
