Hello from Ontario, Canada

Hi All,

New to turning in all aspects basically.

I have all the tools for bowl turning and just had a very friendly gentleman, who is retiring from the hobby, set me up with some wood and pen parts/blanks of various qualities and colours to get me started down the road of pen turning.

I'll try to spend a bunch of time watching videos and reading before I pepper with questions as I tend to overthink everything. Hoping to find a good turning class or even more experienced turner to kiss up to locally and learn as much as I can so I can start doing it with my kids.

I'm in Southern Ontario just east of the GTA

I've heard great things about this website and hope to be helpful in someway at sometime…

Welcome from a little west of you. Do a few searches for woodturning and woodworking clubs in your area. There will be lots of help among those members. Don't forget to do searches here to read past threads. There is a goldmine of information on just about everything. Lastly look at all the information and tutorials in the Library section of this forum. Above all have fun.

Welcome along. Shame it's not Whitby UK as that's reasonable near but I am sure there's are loads of experienced and helpful Canadian turners if you reach out as suggested. All the Canadian turners I've met ( over here ) have been a fountain of knowledge and helpful
