I've just joined but been trying to make pens for about 6 months. Not been going too bad, but am hoping to move up from slimline to something a bit more special next year.

Welcome, I have been turning for a couple of years now. Though I turn several styles of pens now, I still enjoy the slim line's. I try to be creative with them, my next major slim line project will be a captive ring pen.

But penturners don't 'move up' from slimlines.:wink: It's a myth that they are any easier than any other pen, and in fact are more demanding to do properly than most kits. I guess this idea came about because slims are a bit cheaper than other kits and therefore deemed inferior or easier to make. Slims are without a doubt the best kits for your money IMNSHO:biggrin:

It's really great to see so many new members from UK recently. It will benifit all of us in the long run. :cool:
