Hello my name is Carlton. I am currently in the United States Air Force at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, I have been active duty for 13 years. A Friend from my church has recently gotten me in to pen turning and now I'm hooked. I have turn four pens and lots of practice cutting.

I have been doing a lot of research on building my own work shop, but I haven't bought a lathe yet but I can see that I have been spoiled turning on my friends oneway lathe.

I'm new so I'm open to all the help and tips people are willing to share.

I all love shooting so this is one of the pens I have made its a lever action ballpoint pen antique brass with Goncalo Alves wood.

Welcome from Chicago! Thanks for your service! :)
(I haven't started turning myself yet, but I ordered a Delta 46-460 and it's got a pretty good reputation.)

Welcome from Louisiana. Lots to learn about pen turning and this is a great place to start that process. Ask anything. We were all beginners once and chances are if you have a problem it has been solved before by someone here. Search the Forums by topic and use the Library. Welcome to the addiction.

Side note, I use to watch the F16s take off on the runway at McGuire from my window on Ft Dix in 1977.

Welcome from Arkansas Carlton, first thank you for your service.

I am actually what they call affectionately known down here in the south as a Damn Yankee. Was born and raised in N.J. Born in Newark and childhood years around East Brunswick. Was in the Air Force stationed here at the end of the Vietnam war. And just stayed.

Got my wife her first dependent ID card while on leave to get married, at McGuire AFB.

Again welcome aboard and don't worry about asking what you feel are dumb questions all of us have asked them.
