Hey guys! I've been a member for a little while, just reading, learning and admiring other members work. I think it's time to start participating on the forum and not just browsing!

I've been a wood turner for a long while, but seem to find myself becoming more addicted to it with every passing year.

In 2011 I found Turntex Woodworks online and have since been stabilizing my own pen blanks. I spend way too much money on Ebay buying up various burl woods to stabilize! I've got more pen blanks then I could hope to turn in the next 10 years.

After browsing the forum I have recently become obsessed with the idea of casting my own resin blanks. I just bought my first pressure pot and am now waiting for my aluminite order to come in.

I really look forward to sharing, learning and participating on the forum!

Welcome Jeff, from far west Kentucky, to the addiction, sometimes referred to as the vortex. Be sure to give the library a good bit of time. The link is at the top of the page. You will find an article called Library Index. This covers tutorials on about anything pen making you can think of. You will also notice that there are articles listed by year. Much good info there as well. When these fail to answer your questions, by all means post it here. I have never seen one go unanswered very long. You might also want to give this thread a good look. It has some very good info for the beginning pen turner; http://content.penturners.org/librar...en_turning.pdf. Grab some wood, make some shavings and have fun all the while being safe.
Have a look at the series of videos ed4copies has just posted showing how to complete a pen from drill to finish.

Welcome from Southern California!

Sounds like you might need to get rid of some of that stabilized wood in the classified section! : )

Welcome to the addiction and the fun of the forum.
