Hi all.
I'm a newby to pen turning and have so far just made a few slimline and credit card pens using cheapish kits and acrylic blanks. I live on the island of Jersey in the English Channel, just off the coast of France. It's a tiny island (9 miles by 5 miles) and the opportunities to link up with other pen turners locally is limited to say the least! So the chance to read through the posts of you guys and pick up advise and "tips and wrinkles" is invaluable! Thanks for letting me join and for freely giving your advice!! I look forward to many years of fun now that I am retired.

Best Regards,

Bill

Hi Bill,

Welcome to the group. There is a lot of information on here that you will find helpful. If you have questions just ask as everyone on here is always willing to help.

Welcome from Texas, Bill.
Be sure to join in the Birthday Bash festivities - you might be able to win some prizes to help jump start your turning habit.

Hi Bill, a warm welcome to IAP from North Wales. You live in one of the UK's best kept secrets!! I've been lucky enough to visit the Channel Isles for both work and hols. Mostly Guernsey and Sark. I was working on the Cable link a few years ago and now try and get back every now and then.
The islanders are very much multi taskers. !! Introduce pen turning to your neighbours or corner the market for the tourists.

Enjoy your retirement!! :)

Hi Bill. Welcome from western Canada ! Don't spend too much time/money on cheap kits and slimlines. My advice is to browse the various pen kit vendor sites, pick what you like, ask for opinions from the people here, and go for it. I regret dwelling on the not-so-easy slimlines and similar cheap pens when the more classy kits are in fact often easier and certainly much more rewarding to make. Dive in and you'll figure it out !!

Hi All.
Been too busy to check for responses to my intro message. Hopefully will be able to get into the forum more often in future.
Thanks for your encouragement!
SkipRat - I have had a good look at your web site and from there a couple of your You Tube videos - brilliant inspiration! Many thanks for providing this help.
Best,
Bill
