Hi,

My name is Bryan Fox. I am 26 years old and just turned my second pen this evening.

I have been in the navy since 2004. I joined when I was 17 and turned 18 in boot camp. I have currently never been on a ship due to my skill set. I have however been to Iraq 2 times, Kuwait 1 time (6 times including passing though flights) Afghanistan 3 times, Pakistan 1 time, and Bahrain, Djibouti, Qatar 1 time. I have been all over the middle east and have served with some of the bravest men I have ever met in my life. I feel in love with wood working because it is the one thing that really takes away from my PTSD spells of depression, anxiety, drinking...

Anyways just turned my second pen. I know it is not the greatest but I love doing it and it will only be a matter of time before I am turning great pens.

I am really fascinated with this hobby and this is something I see myself doing for the rest of my life.

I am always open to new ideas and pointers and trying out new concepts. please share your knowledge with me so I can grow in the hobby!

Also if anyone knows a good cheap place to get pen kits that would be awesome. The wife keeps my spending money slim and wood craft is not friendly to people in the <30K a year club. Thanks!

Bryan, first of all THANK YOU for your service to our country!!!

Welcome to a great site full of lots of really good people.
Take some time to look over the library for some excellent info.
Also take a look at this old thread ... http://www.penturners.org/forum/f14/if-i-had-known-earlier-46654/

As for buying components ... you should go visit Jimmy Pen Kits, Pen Blanks, Pen Mandrels, Pen Bushings, Wood Pens
Other vendors on this site are awesome as well.

Don't be afraid to ask questions and post some pics as you go along!

thank you Lenny!

I actually need to see if I can visit this guy. He is on the same Island and I am and would only make sense to go see his shop.
