Greeting from the former home of Buick/Cadillac and the Buick Open.
So a few years ago I acquired a Shopsmith that I had to disassemble to move. In my searching about SS, I discovered Pen Making. Thinking I would have the Shopsmith going soon, I ordered a starter kit. Kind of lost motivation and did nothing. Feeling guilty, I sold the Shopsmith and bought a small lathe from HF so I could at least use up the pens that I thought would have dried up.
I have turned a dozen pens or pencils. Gave some away and sold a few. I love fountain pens and consider each that I've turned were really nice. I sold one that I really should have kept. Just motivates me to make more. My wife belongs to a guilt guild and I have turned a few seam rippers. I find both wood and acrylic easy to turn and make nice products.
Of course as a newbie, I have made some mistakes and hopeful have learned from them. Hoping that I can learn and grow as a pen turner with the wisdom of those here on IAP.
Other hobbies include ham radio (K8MEG), stamp collecting, and guitar.
Best Regards,
Rich
