Hi everyone, my name is Chuck and I haven't turned anything for about 10 years now. After many work-related relocations we are finally settled down and I'm looking forward to getting back to turning a few pens. Just bought a new mini lathe, eagerly awaiting its arrival on Friday. Having been reading the posts and picking up some good advice from everyone. Thanks. :)

Welcome from North Carolina where we have finally settled after many, many -- did I mention many -- military and post-military moves).

Served RCAF 1973-1995, Winnipeg, Trenton, Edmonton, Ottawa, St. Hubert, back to Trenton, Bosnia/Kosovo, Gulf War, Somalia, Rwanda. Took the FRP after being promoted and posted back to Ottawa and wanted to stay one more year in Trenton to let my oldest daughter finish high school, but CM said take the posting or get out... waited 2 weeks and the FRP came out, so I took it.

As for scrolling, I mostly do fretwork, jewelry, ornaments, etc. (mostly small stuff). Still working on getting a larger shop - more tools than shop space!

I grew up as an Air Force brat, with most of my years in Trenton, where my father chose to retire after his 25 years. Family has moved around since then, but I still have a few close friends in the area and visit occasionally. My dad is now back in Saskatchewan, so I see that area just as often.

Welcome from North Carolina.
