I am a new wood turner and am very interested in pen making. I have not turned any yet, so I am gathering advice, suggestions and any tips from members who have experience.

I just learned about IAP and look forward to participating.

Welcome and hope to see you at the next IAP meet!
Hi Gary, Thanks for the welcome to IAP. Can you tell me more about the GA IAP chapter...i.e meeting dates, times locations etc.

I would also like to establish a conversational relationship with an experienced pen turner near Gainesville if possible. I want to get some advice for the beginner and ask some really simple (read naive, stupid) questions that may save me time and frustration. Any ideas? I have not checked with the local AAW chapter members yet, but will when I recover from recent knee surgery.

I look forward to starting on my first pen soon.

Welcome and good luck. Word of advice? Learn to apologize to the wife for all the time you are about to spend in the workshop!
Good advice, although she may be glad to have me doing something productive and not bothering her ! Any good advice for a beginner is appreciated.

Hi Larry,

Go to the Georgia forum here and under the "Forum Tools" link, "subscribe" to the forum to get email updates when new information is posted.

The next meeting (the 18th we've held) will be at the Atlanta Woodcraft in Roswell April 20th, 2013 from 10am to around 3pm. Check out the link for more info! We'd love to have you come by and meet the regulars - and some of the irregulars, which probably outnumber the former!:tongue:
