Hi everyone!
I've been curious about pen making for a while. So I'm a total newbie and have no idea where to start, hoping this forum helps guide me a bit on my way to pen making.

Welcome!

Two OLD threads linked below - The top one has been superseded by a number of things, but it can get you started. The second one is almost as old but it has a lot of relevant information from people who started with one idea and then learned that a second idea might be, or was better.

Welcome. The question is how curious are you really?? Do you have any tool knowledge?? Do you have any tools?? Do you have lots of money to dump into a hobby that you may not like?? My point here would for you to find a person who is a turner and get hooked up with them to show you first hand what pen making is all about. Or find a turners club and join and again hands on experience and get a feel for what is what. Then come back here and ask all the questions you can and be glad to help. Woodcraft stores hold show and tell groups. It is a tough question for us to answer or to give true guidance. Good luck.

I think JT hit the nail on the head with this reply.

If you can have a try and play with someone else's lathe and tools first you're in a much better place to know what works for you. Clubs and associations abound in most places, although over here they're all shut down currently due to lockdown.

Have fun, find your niche and ask lots of questions. The only stupid question is an unasked one
