Well, I am back to the forums and to turning after quite a while (8 months?) Life has been throwing its curve balls, but I am at the point where I can be turning again and I am excited!

Looking forward to talking with my old friends and making some new ones.

Bruce, if you are still around, we can get together sometime this month and turn if you want =)

LOL... good question, I live there and I am not even sure.

I live about 20 miles due south of Greenville, SC. My mailing address is Pelzer, but I am not in any city limits. I don't even know if Pelzer is considered a city ;)

I think I know where it's at. Down Hwy. 25 between I-85 and I-385. I've done alot of sign work in the Greenville area when I was running a crane truck. I guess you already know it but you won't be getting any of those nice summer ocean breezes like in GC. It could be worse though, you could be in Columbia,SC.!:wink::biggrin:

That is the place! 25 passes within a few miles of my apt.
I know, bummer about the breezes. Oh well, GC isn't too bad of a drive. And yes - Columbia doesn't have the mountains or the oceans, and it does have the icky red clay. =)

Hey Joel ..... glad to see that you're back. Remember that five bucks you borrowed from me??

BTW ... did you notice that Cav has a title? He's the new IAP Activities Manager. It's true! He's in charge of all activities. Like, so far, he's planning a shuffle board tournament ..... and he wants us to have an IAP bowling night ... he has all kinds of neat ideas!:biggrin:

Good to see you back! Finish your ed? Got a new work place? Going to offer any more wood for sale? Lots of questions here! I met Dr. D. Aikins this past summer in Thailand of all places.

Just letting you know that you haven't been forgotten! Join back in the fun here!

Cav! With a title? Wow... I have been missing some major changes here. What is the world coming to? ;) So what should I be looking for in the library? Oh, be sure to proofread my post. I have missed that for sure.

Hey Doc, feel free to drive up here and collect your five dollars. I would just PayPal it to you, but I know how you old guys are about computers.

Hank - I just saw your 30 Pieces pen - phenominal. I leave for a while and everyone is better than me when I get back. re: wood for sale - I am not planning on cutting and selling anything in the near future, but I still have a good bit of leftover blanks from the last time I sold - jumbo cocobolo, some aussie burls, blue mahoe, etc etc. If there is some interest I can post some stuff up in a bit.

Bruce - I will probably be able to get down there a little before the week of Thanksgiving for some good turning time =) Sorry, I wont have the cool wood this time around though! (Last time I visited Bruce we had 160 lbs of aussie burl hanging around the shop waiting for me)

Thanks, Jim, Hugo, and Dale! It is good to be back.

To respond to Hank about life in general - I have my B.S. in music education. Graduated magna cum laude and I am now a state certified teacher - although I am currently not teaching. I will be headed to grad school @ Clemson next fall. In the meantime, trying to get enough money together to pay for grad school and to get married.

Started a small business in Greenville this summer, it went very well all the way up until the big talk started about the bailout - and at that point, I lost every single one of my fall installations. So, had to push school back a semester and I have applied for some local construction jobs in the meantime. I would love to teach, but no short-term teaching jobs exist unless you are a sub - and there is a hiring freeze on subs in GC.

I am looking at trying to get the inventory and stuff together to do my first show - a large, well-organized juried craft show in the Greenville area at the beginning of Dec. I lost my Charleston Pens website a while back due to an incompetent hosting service - just got the domain back and am working on building a new one.

Like I said, good to be back. Thanks everyone for the kindness.
