This morning I recieved a phone call that my youngest sister had just passed away. She was 46 yrs old. Lung cancer from smoking. Both our parents died from the same cause. She leaves behind 3 teenage boys and a husband. I'm not making judgements just asking for the smokers among us to please think of those who may be left behind alone and deeply in debt to Drs and hospitals. I'm not in favor of smoking laws or unfair taxing of tobacco products. Life is full of choices. A few months ago I asked my sister what she would like to do before her time came. After a few seconds she looked at me with tears in her eyes and said " I want to live!" A little later I left for the 30 mile trip home alone. After about 5 miles I pulled off the road. I could not see. I was crying too hard. Of all I might do for her and the family she asked for the one thing no mortal could give. I could do nothing for my sister, maybe this will in some way have a positive affect on someone else

Jim my heart goes out to you. I found myself in the same position as you are in about 1 year ago with my sister.

My prayers are with you and the family.

Jim, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I reacted the same way when I came within inches of losing my father. It hits you hard. Know that were here for you, and that her suffering is finally over.

Jim,

My heart felt symphaties to your family. We will be praying for you and yours.

My dad, uncle and both grandparents (from my father side) all died of cancer. They are all heavy smokers. Are their cases just coincidence? I don't think so. The good thing is that seing the bad things it brings, 11 out of 12 of us siblings never smoked.

My deepest sympathies to you and your family and we will pray for all of you.
This Fourth of July will be my fifth anniversary since I quit smoking. I had no desire to quit but when my daughter (then seven years old) ask me to quit so I wouldn't die; I had to quit.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Went through the same with my brother about a decade ago, only time will make it any easier. He smoked until the day he passed away. I'm blessed that I gave it up years ago, and so far have resisted the temptation to pick it back up.

May I also offer my condolences to you and your family and ask the Good Lord to give you some measure of comfort.

I held my 88 year old mother in my arms as she died from lung cancer. She too was a heavy smoker from the age of 18. This was by far the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

I for one have always been and will always be VERY adament about not allowing smokers near me while they indulge in killing themselves slowly and never will allow it in my home or vehicle.

All smokers out there - go visit a local cancer treatment center and observe first hand the agony of the family members while they watch their loved ones take the chemo treatments. Look at the faces of those undergoing the treatments. Then ask yourselves "Why do I do this to myself and my family?"

I hope all you smokers will quit before it is to late for yourself and those that love you ...

End of ranting on my part.
