Walking across the lot at the sawmill today I heard this noise. When I went to investigate this is what I found. I just could not leave it sitting there all by itself--- so I brought it home and made a spot for it in my shop. Has to be the biggest Cherry log I have ever bought.
The new hoist got it's first real workout and it done a fine job.

Ed I spent about 18 months designing my Hollowing system.
Since I aint a machinest I had to send everything out to get it built. After several trys I finally came up with something that works for me. We are not going to talk about the cost of doing this.[:0]

I bet the cost of getting your hollowing system made is a LOT more than the cost of that log.

Is your lathe capable of turning one from that log? Split it down the middle and turn a natural edged bowl or two, or three, or etc. ... [:D]

Fred I have a Powermatic 4224 that will---
Get-er-Done
Oh I forgets----there will be sevaral items made from the log---but one of them will be a Monster

They way I understand it -----until you start having a conversation with the voices---you still alright.
I am headed to the shop with the intention of spending some quality time with the cherry log. Chains are sharp (all three) and I have 2.5 gallons of gas mixed and ready to attack.
I have a couple of hours before it gets to dang hot.
