I was in the local Harbor Freight using a 20% off coupon and was told that they will be stopping issuing coupons in the not too distant future. The clerk tried selling me a "membership" for $29.95 where I would continue receiving emails with specials, coupons, etc.

Sounds like anyone better get while the gettin' is good.

I talked to them today (South Austin HF)...
The FAST TRACK CLUB is $29.95 per year... http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/taf/itc.taf

They didn't say anything about discontinuing discount coupons, but did say the FTC gives you better "specials"... and advanced notification of sales... as well as special entry to their sidewalk sales...

He suggested to sign up at the store and they would make sure you got coupons they don't give if you sign up on the web site...

If they stop the coupons, I'll be going even less frequently than I do now. I already own most of the gems, and don't need much else that they sell.

They are NOT stopping coupons, they will just not be as frequent as before.

My cousin is the manager of the West Springfield, Ma store, and we talked about it at length.

I haven't received an email coupon in ages. However I get tons in all the magazines I subscribe to, which is something recent this past year.

Good to know they won't be stopping altogether. Folks at my store made it sound like coupons would be stopping and replaced with this membership thing.
