I'm not much of a history buff and hadn't been aware of it until I saw a note in this month's PEN WORLD MAGAZINE. May 14 is the 400th anniversary of the founding of the first permanent English settlement in North America.....Jamestown Settlement.
Three ships.....the Susan B. Constant, the Discovery, and the Godspeed.....first landed at Cape Henry on the Chesapeake Bay in April of 1607 and on 14 May of the same year chose the location now known as Jamestown, Virginia to be their home.
We've come a long way in 400 years. Happy anniversary America!!
