Something seem off a bit on the % calculation.
As a test if I change the $0.30 fee to $0.00 and leave the % at 2.9 and then enter $100.00 in the top left field I would expect to need to pay $102.90 but the total = $102.99
Seems to want to add on the extra 9/10th of a percent. (kind of like the gas stations.)
Other % gets different results but all different than expected.

Kirk,

It is correct. Paypal fees woudl be charged on $102.90, not $100. If it was only the 2.9% then the paypal fee would be $2.9841.

I've used this before but it is off. Receiver actually (me before) lost some $0.35 per transaction since they didn't factor the initial charge on top of the percentage.

Not sure if they addressed that now.

Does the percentage get higher as the funds increase? I recieved $140 and was charged $6.50 and then received $150 and it was $9. I don't get it at all.

Other factors are:
Currency conversion if you are sending/receiving to/from other countries.
Source of funds also can play a role. I believe credit card payments sometimes are charged differently.

YMMV.

If it was a cross border payment then the fee is different. Here is the breakdown for international...

$0 - $3,000 monthly sales 3.9% + $.30
$3,000.01 - $10,000 monthly sales 3.5% + $.3
$10,000.01 - $100,000 monthly sales 3.2% + $.3

Here is the breakdown for Domestic:
$0 - $3,000 2.9% + $.30
$3,000.01 - $10,000 2.5% + $.30
$10,000.01 - $100,000 2.2% + $.30

WIth a business account, you pay the same fees regardless of the source of funds. If your buyer uses a credit card with no Paypal account, the fee is the same.

Not according to the Paypal fee page I linked above. Of course this is assuming you are talking about a business account. If it is a personal account then the fee is higher for credit card sources.

Thanks for the breakdown on this....

As far as being the concern about it being 100% accurate..Even if it wasnt, Its accurate enough for me to give me a price breakdown :) No difference to using a calculator and adding manually..
