One of our members sent me an email that he didn't really send.
I knew immediately his account had been hacked and some perp. was using his email account to spam folks he'd previously sent mail to.

I make my living in IT and provide highly secure systems to folks.
So, I consider what I wrote SOP and just common sense, but I later realized this isn't something everyone thinks about every day.
I realized this is likely an important message to all:

"A hacked account should not be treated lightly; hoping it is a best-case scenario IS the worst course of action for the victim."

If any of your online accounts are compromised, please check ALL your accounts; change all the passwords; contact your financial institutions and make certain no one has accessed your assets.
Often, people use the same or very similar authentication for many accounts. If one has been penetrated, it's not too far fetched that some of your other accounts can be.
Therefore, if you have an incident, please make the time to check each and every account you control.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Thanks Gary, my son's facebook account was hacked and strange emails were sent to all of his friends. He must not have changed his password because the same thing happened again two days later. I'm telling him to change his passwords.

Thank you for the reminder Gary. My facebook account was recently hacked and I changed my password three times and something is not right. I can't get them to answer my emails so I need to delete the account I guess.

TELL him to do it and then stand behind him while he does it!
