Hi! I am Mark Spencer and have been turning for about three years. Fell in love with it the first time I was shown. I have been making pens (mostly slimlines) for gifts and selling. I also make other mandrel turned items - seam rippers, letter openers, key chains, etc. and sell some locally at craft fairs.

I am looking to "up my game" and produce some higher quality items. Hoping to be able to learn and contribute to this group.

Welcome Mark, this a great place to learn. My game has gotten better being here.

Since your from East Texas, A place to go and see and learn is the SWAT Symposium held in August in Waco.

Thanks John! I have been to SWAT the last two years and LOVE it! I am a member of the Hunt County Woodturners and we will be hosting the Texas Room. I assist with the AV. Hope to meet you there!

Welcome.

I spent a few years in East Texas one summer. My paternal grandmother lived in Hemphill, which is a tiny town that isn't near anything, but is as far east as you can go and not roll into LA. Between the massive heat and the strange foriegn language that everyone spoke, it was not a great summer for a kid from NY.

Welcome from DFW. By now you have discovered that you are a pen addict. This group will not help you recover from your addiction.

Welcome from Colorado (in the summer) and east Tx in the winter! I agree with Old Grumpy - this group will not help us recover from our pen addiction! This is a great group - you'll enjoy your time here!
