Hello y'all. Good to finally join this forum. I've read alot of posts over the years and got some good information from y'all through Google searches so I thought Id join in the fun finally. I've been woodworking for some time and turning pens for about 5 years now. I'm not the greatest but I'm getting there. I haven't turned in a while but I'm getting ready to get back into it. I have a rikon 70-105 now with plans on upgrading to a 1420 vsr soon. I'm tired of changing the belt everything I go from turning to finishing and having larger capacity for bigger items is exciting. I have done my own segmented blanks as well as cast hybrid epoxy blanks. I've been thinking about setting up to do some stabilizing but I haven't committed to it yet. I'm still setting up my shop after moving and have to build some cabinets first.

Welcome from NJ! You will get some great info from here for sure! If you are looking at the newer lathe, I also assume you are thinking of turning things larger than a pen - so maybe check around you for a local American Association of Woodturners club where you might find folks who can help you with other things beyond pens. https://www.woodturner.org/ to find a local club.

Welcome aboard from Waxhaw/Weddington, NC. There are a number of penmakers in the Waxhaw Woodturners club which meets in Matthews, NC which should be close to York. PM me if you are interested in coming to one of our meetings (next meeting is tonight.)
