I have a really cool Green Wing Macaw that is two years old. I have the bird the cage a large play tree and a bunch of other things to go with him. I just dont have time to take care of him the way he nees to be. I had him surgically sexed and he is a male I have all the paper work from the time we got him as a baby. My wife had to finish feeding him baby food before he satrted eating on his own. He hasw started talking and is really cool he has not betten anyone in the family or friends in the family he is very well aclamated to people. He gets along great with are two little dogs. We even have an old cat that stayes away from him. If you would like any info or pictures please call. 503-330-1155

How many pounds?
And is the cavity big enough to stuff with cornbread?

Nice looking bird, but my cats would kill themselves trying to get him.

Good Luck

Hey Jerry
Did you see that beak and the claws? I hang his toys with dog chain 1/4" and he bits it in half. He has 750 pounds per square inch of power in that jaw. It only takes 34 pounds per square inch to take your hand off at the rist, and 6 pounds per square inch for a finger. My wifes cat learned the hard way to leave him alone. He walks all over the house and flys.

Oh yes he is 4 pounds and he is 42" from head to tip of his tail.

Too bad you're a 10 hour trip each way......let alone the cost of gas!

Good price on the Macaw.....well worth it! Hope you can find him a good home!

I asked the boss she said NO. A year ago we decided to get a family bird, I wanted a macaw and she wanted a cockatoo, so we now have beautiful cockatoo that likes to be scratched more than the dog.
I sure hope you find it a good home.

Rodney, a number of years ago we had a Scarlet Macaw named Mongo, great bird he ran the house wanted attention 24-7 we added a yellow nape amazon and Mongo became very jealous and would knock Sundance off his pearch and laugh they can make great pets.

Not sure this is the best sales pitch. Nice bird, I love it but the wife would not be impressed.

Rodney,

How big is his cage & does it break down for transportation? I know their cages are on the big side.....just need to figure out if it would fit (moving it and placement here)!!

Will talk it over with the wife when I get home tonight.....we'll see?!

That is a beautiful bird. Too bad you are on the other coast. Birds do take a lot of time and attention. I have too smaller birds- a cockatiel that whistles many tunes and talks and a love bird that also talks and sings. They really lie to interact a lot. Great pets. They harass the dogs and the dogs leave the room, even though they are much bigger.
Hope you find a good home for your bird

Hi Cindy
I am up here by portland about 12 hours drive from the bay area

Charlie, when I saw on the front page that you had replied to this post, I just KNEW it was gonna be something like that!!!

years ago I owned a breeding pair of Macaws. This means they where anything but tame and even dangerous to work around. not pets. Just as a comparison for anyone. I paid $2500 for that pair. Never did get any babies out of them either and that was 15 years ago or so. $750 is give away for a hand fed Macaw. The cage alone is worth half of that.
I would seriously consider it if I had room and what really stinks is I have a cousin that lives in Eugene and works in Portland all the time. Keep in mind folks the bird can be shipped. it is expensive and at first seems like a not so good idea. but it is probably cheaper than gas, faster and less stressful for the bird. they make the trip say from Portland to California in a couple hours by plane and they do get to ride on the inside of the plane like everyone else. The hard part when you are not used to it is that they have to go into a box so small they barely fit in it. this is to hold them still so they do not injure themselves. Hope a deal works out for you, I know very well how much work they take. they are an extremely social animal and need constant companionship. Finding them a friend is not easy because they are also spoiled brats about it. Oh and just anouther idea of the bite they have. one of their natural foods are Brazil nuts. you know those black ones that nobody ever eats because you can't get them cracked. yeah those they eat them like we eat twinkies.

You know, Charlie, birds molt and you can get a nearly endless supply of feathers for 70-90 years.

I know, but they get VERY grouchy when I follow them around
for months at a time with a bag.

Funny, the dog doesn't mind this. He just laughs.

Hi Daniel
Yes he is the most loving bird I have ever seen. This bread is the most loving of the macaws that is why I waited two years to get him. I have had him from a baby being hand feed to now and he has never bitten anyone. I could not say enough. I just put on what he can do and some of what he does do. But for you folks that think he is a mean bird he is far far from it and yes I get killer feathers from him all the time. I have a large vace full

Charlie,
I would offer to go in on it with you.
You can have all the feathers. All I want is the carcass for a good christmas meal.
However, if it is 4 ft tall, and only weighs 4 pounds, then there ain't enough meat for soup, never mind roasting.

Jerry
