Although we already planned our trip to the States for this past Thursday the 28th, LOML and I got a call from our youngest daughter that morning at 6:00AM Japan time, just as we were about to get up to prepare for leaving to the Nagoya Airport for our USA trip. She said that they would be going to the hospital soon for delivery in a few hours. We called at 7:00 PM their time (Dallas, TX area) from the Nagoya airport and they had just left for the Hospital.
Labor was induced around 9 PM Wednesday night (about 10 days early because of the size of the baby) but Amy did not deliver until 11:11PM Thursday, a little over 26 hours in labor. She looked a little tired and pale but we think she look great after all that work.
TIMING FOR THE GRANDPARENTS:
IN all of this time, Linda and I left the house in Toyota, went to the Nagoya airport, flew to Detroit, went through customs, flew to Memphis, TN. Middle daughter picked us up. We dropped our main bags of our our house about 30 miles from Memphis and drove 7 1/2 hours to Dallas. We arrived in the waiting room at the hospital close to Dallas (Lake Pointe hospital next to Lake Ray Hubard) about 5 minutes before Amy delivered. She was waiting for us. Such a sweet daughter!
Since the baby wasn't due until the end of next week, we had scheduled our flight to be a week ahead of delivery date to get some visiting and other things done. But everything worked out perfect anyway.
At this time, Both grandparents are in terrible jet lag. Grandson is doing fine.
