Have any of you good folks heard of this safety device?

http://www.bt3central.com/articles/files/Ripstrate.PDF

The link in the article does not work and I have tried several deviations in the spellings to no avail. So, I guess the author is correct in his original article when he states they "aren't making them anymore."

Seems to me to have been a more than excellent idea!! IF you have one and want to sell it please let me know as I am mighty interested in getting one for myself.

I have the Rip buddy for my BT3100 table saw. Except for the right side miter slots that I got for the TS, The Ripbuddy in my best accessory. It works very well.

Fred, there was a guy on ebay selling these, along with the right side miter slots. Sometimes they were called RipStrait or RipBuddy (same product). Do you have a Ruobi BT or Craftsman tablesaw? If so, PM me and I'll give you the e-bay sellers name.

The problem with the Rip Buddy was that is was made only for the BT3000/ 3100 and the Craftsman equivelent. Mine actually fits int the channel in the top of the rip fence. Ryobi does not make the saw anymore and I am not sure if the new Craftsman is still the same as the BT3100.

I think an even better (and cheaper) safety device would be to fit the guard supplied with the machine!

I agree!! A decent splitter will prevent 'most' kickbacks and a clean sided blade should prevent the rest.

If you used these contraptions with non-returning wheels, you are reliant on a very good grip by the wheels and how on earth do you use a push stick?? Seems to me, you would end up pushing stock through with your hand and then pause  halfway through the cut to move your hand to the other side of the device to finish the cut.
