As many of you have seen, Tom's wife, Kelly is heading in for cancer treatments. If you want more details, see this thread. http://www.penturners.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=35334

Many of you have experienced what cancer can do not only to the "victim", but to the family. Tom is wrecking himself working extra shifts to make the money end work, and that's where you come in.

I am holding a MONSTER RAFFLE fundraiser for the AIRRAT family. Everyone who enters will win something that money can't buy: The feeling that comes from helping someone who just needs a little support in a difficult time. You can buy as many tickets as you like, everyone has a 1-in-1 chance of winning the aforementioned prize.

Who knows, maybe I will dig in the stash for some random goodies;)! I did overbuy on Nolan's DI burl......

There will be no losers in this contest, however there will be enormous thanks to all who participate!

Let's see that IAP family generousity!

WOW! I am amazed at you folks! I cannot believe the number of e-mails I have already seen. Just to clarify, there are no tickets being distributed or selected! Everyone wins the prize of good Karma and the feelings that go with helping out a friend. My sincerest apologies if there was any misunderstanding on that issue.

Dario has generously offered a pack of blanks as a consolation prize, and I did overbuy on Nolan's DI, so, The 20th and 30th respondents get them. I don't want to put a time limit on this as Tom and Kelly will be in this process for a while.

Okay just to clarify...according to Jon, this has Jeff's blessings (nice little detail to know). :)

I will donate a package of pen blanks as consolation prize too.

I did just email Jon and ask him to clarify one thing... I don't think there's going to be any drawing or winners (other than the good karma we win by donating!) Although thanks are in order to Dario for immediately offering a prize, I don't think there will be any "tickets" drawn or prizes awarded.
 
Wow this is really great, thank you Jon for setting it up.

Some of you might not know me or remember me but I am Tommy's twin brother. I have been turning pens with him for a couple years now. I have not been on the boards much lately as I am a school teacher and just have not had much spare time as of late. I do know that Tommy and Kelly will appreciate these kind offers and showing of love and support expressed by the members of IAP. You all have been a bright spot in these past days.

So once again from his brother thank you, one and all!
 
Hi all, sorry I have not replied in a few, I worked a few more doubles this week. I ended up leaving work early tonight, hit the end of the rope and they all wanted me to go and finally pack. We leave tomorrow (Sunday) morning, Kelly's first appointment is 7am on Monday. Kelly is doing ok, she is pretty much doing a liquid diet right now due to pain in her mouth, jaw and head. Its easier to not chew and aggravate it.

Finally had time to download all my emails. You all have brought us to our knees with your kindness and generosity. I am truly at a loss for words on what to say, if you could see the emotions you would know. Kelly sends each and everyone of you a hug and a kiss. We just hope that one day we can pay it forward.

UPDATE 3/31

Tom and Kelly have received several direct donations and I was able to send an accumulated $500 to help with some of their expenses! You all are fantastic and I know they really appreciate it.

Tom and Kelly are one hour into Kelly's treatment at MD Anderson as of this post. Keep those prayers, good wishes and donations coming. Keep an eye open in the next day or two for another avenue by which to contribute to their medical expenses.

As you have probably seen, Cav and Doc, our newest moderators, have opened a new forum for Members In Need. I am closing this thread and forwarding the balance of contributions to Tom and Kelly. We have collected over $650 in total, plus I know many of you have sent directly to them as well, GREAT JOB!

Please support the new raffles, give money, win prizes, everybody's happy!

I will forward the names of contributors to Tom and Kelly so they will know who is behind this generosity!
 
Just did the final accounting. We had a total of 21 contributors and a total of $700 (I bumped to round it). The 20th contributor was ROJO22, Please contact Dario re: his offer to contribute a box of blanks, wait, maybe I was 20th[}:)]!
