Vermont went to a fork on one side law a few years ago. That, coupled with an excellent apple/beech nut-acorn year, is making for some huge (for VT) racks this year.

Congrats on the rackosaurus!!!

In VT we count the points and would call that a 12 pointer.

No fair, you guys get bigger white tails than we do, fortunately ours are about 4 times the size of the Texas white tail. A 6x6 is nice, what did it field dress at?
 
Congrats on getting your deer. I don't hunt, but evidently my dog does. We have an 11 month old mixed breed female that spends as much time up at the neighbors house as she does at home... so far she has brought home from his house, two forlegs, a back bone with ribs, and the head and cape of what he has killed and discarded. I think the head was a doe since didn't appear to have had any antlers.

I beat you though, I got mine last week. Although I got mine with m truck but it's still tasty so doesn't that count.

That is a righteous buck, Like I said you guys get the good deer we get the runts. a big buck around here dresses out maybe 200 on rare occasion, but we got so many it's
unreal, I think that's the problem.

Casual Conversation Off-topic, general chat. seems to fit! Plus, many of us are jealous of the antlers...even if he's gonna waste 'em hanging on a wall! I could probably get 3-4 pens out of a rack that size :biggrin:

I wholeheartedly agree!!!! I was just replying in kind the way Mr Smith did to another thread in Casual conversation!!
 
We had a farm outside Manhattan Kansas. one of our neighbors use to take deer from his front porch. seriously. when I moved to Nevada and saw what they shot here I was only 10 years old and not knowing exactly what I was saying asked why they kept shooting the babies. I now realize deer do not get bigger than that here. The rabbits are not in any better shape. I wouldn't bother getting the gun out of the car for the ones they have here. back home we had rabbits larger than some small dogs.
Nice Deer by the way. if you need any help eating some of that jerky I will be more than happy to polish off a bit of it for ya.
 
I just came in from making 58# of venison sausage, 18# of venison jerky, and 15# of venison bacon burger! My sausage is still in the smokehouse, actually and the jerky has been smoked and is hanging to dry. Should be ready in a week or so. I shot both of the deer used to make this while sitting on my sofa, shooting out the window of my living room. Man, that was tough "hunting" sitting there in my socks and long sleeve shirt. I actually had to go and turn down the heater one time since I was getting a little cold! Fox News did not seem to scare the deer any and I was even so dedicated to IAP that I was able to be online while "hunting"! Man, the joys of living on a little bit of land!
