Yup, I knocked up my wife (intentionally). I've already been looking at plans to build a crib and a changing table....might as well do it now while I'm still able to sleep through the night:wink: Don't know the sex yet, it'll be 2 months before that but I'm excited about either. This is our first, and we're enjoying the ride so far! Rachel has some nausea, but hasn't gotten sick, she won't eat chicken, mayo, or certain melted cheeses, and I've already had to make two late night runs, one for Kraft maccaroni and the other for a Wendy's baked potato with sour cream! She's 11 weeks along and the due date is Groundhog's day! I'd ask for advice but if there's one thing I've learned in life its that you never have to ask for advice about weddings or babies, people give it to you anyway!!!:tongue:

I also think the 3rd ultrasound pic looks like Casper!

We've read that it's not uncommon to hate chicken during pregnancy, and most other meats for that matter b/c of the protien. That's about all I know:tongue:

Congrats on your boy! I had a dream we found out it was a boy, but that really means nothing. I'd love a girl, up until about 13....I dread that. I watched my sister become a nightmare of a teenage girl and my wife and her sister were both total hand fulls....but we'll see!

Congrats. It will change your life (being a Dad), but it is a great change in my opinion. My advice is this. Use these 9 months with no monthly friend wisely. As dry days are coming.

Congrats Brian, he has your eyes.. lol. This will certainly change your life for the better. Mine is going to be 2 on the 16th. It happens fast so take plenty of video and photo's. Also, www.babycenter.com s a cool site that will track your little ones growth and let you know what to expect.

If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to ask. My girlfriend had a high risk pregnancy, so we have been through a lot with tests and stuff. We are not pro's, but have been through it all.

One more thing, you will get plenty of people offering advice, and I promise it will start to get anoying. Take the good with the bad, and remember it is your child, not theirs. You will know what is best for your child.

Again, congrats to you and your wife.

Congrats Brian. You will have a shop mate shortly. My granddaughters want to turn a pen every day that they are at Grandma and Grandpa's.

Much congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll give you just one piece of advice from a mom who's sons are grown. Enjoy every tiny minute no matter how much you think you wish for that stage to end, because they are grown and gone before you know it.!!!!! Have a great time with the new baby when he or she gets here!!!! Alice

Kool news my friend. BTW, maybe it's time to go get those miniature turning tools for the little guy. You won't have much time to get them later ...

My ONLY advice is in two parts, (1) Move next to an all night grocery store, and (2) make sure there is either a Baskin Robbins or TCBY on the other side of the house.

My LOML always wanted cucumbers and peanut butter and then there was the ice cream thing! I got about as big as she did ... but I didn't give birth! And the birthing part is definitely another ordeal you need to get ready for!

Congratulations to you both!

Hi Brian; Looks like a pen in your future!

Congratulations! It does not get any better than this. You have a whole new set of adventures coming up....just box up you tools, blanks and kits and send them to me 'cause you need to focus on your wife......go ahead, ask her!

Congratulations!!! As a father of 4 little kids (8,6,4,2 years old) my motto is the same as that of the United States Navy. "It's not a job, it's an adventure!!!" Better turn a lot of pens now because you won't have as much time or money later. lol.

Congrats Brian . Welcome to the wonderful world of kids , life as you know it is now over (or will be soon) . On the bright side , it only lasts for the first 18 years .

Congrats! Our first is now 10 weeks old!

I decided to build a cradle for our baby. Here is a collage of pics of it:

Here you go. I've set the bar for you - hopefully its motivation for you to put your wood skills to the test!! : ) I would love for someone to make some improvements on the design. It works well with ball bearings as pivot points.

I also made several "Its a Girl" pens out of some pink corian I purchased from redfishsc. Here is a pic of the 'prototype' pen. I sent the turned blanks to Tony at PenWorks and he engraved her name and birth date on them. Here is a pic (pre-engraving):

Here's the advice - start your projects early. You will find your free time becoming less and less. Last minute traveling while you can, registry, room prep, etc... You can do all you can to be 'ready', but being prepared is something much more difficult.

I wish you the best of luck.

If you have any questions about the cradle shoot me a PM.

HAHAHA....you all are hilarious! Man I love the people on this site! Bruce, you really cracked me up, it's rare that I actually laugh out loud by myself at the computer but you made me do it!
